We are pleased to announce that Police Chief Tony has been appointed to the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice. The FACJJ is a consulting body established by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act and is supported by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention office. It is comprised of representatives from around the nation, including state advisory groups. The committee advises the President and Congress on matters related to juvenile justice, evaluates the progress and accomplishments of juvenile justice activities and projects and advises the Office of Juvenile Justice Administrator on the work of the department. Chief Jones has been a leader in Gainesville for many years in developing and implementing programs which reach at risk youth and helping those young people to reach their full potential and avoid interactions with the judicial system.
