Chinese School of Teaching Comes to the NW Boys & Girls Club From July 25th to July 29th, over 20 Chinese teachers from the southeast came to the NW Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County to teach not only the language of Chinese, but also about the Chinese Culture.

Before the UF Department of Education Chinese School of Teaching came to the NW Boys & Girls Club, the teachers began with 3 weeks of extensive training and planning. Funded through a grant, the teachers imparted their knowledge gained through their training and planning, as well as their classroom experience to 25 members of the NW Campus.

Our members learned the basics of the Chinese language. Included in what they learned was how you greet someone, numbers, food and drinks, family members, where they are from, yes and no, sit down and stand up, and thank you.  They also learned various songs in Chinese including Happy Birthday.  Each member not only learned what their Chinese name is but also how to write it.
