Monday, July 18, 2011 Members aged 14-18 from the Woodland Park Boys & Girls Club participated in Camp Old Navy. Camp Old Navy is a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club and Gap Inc. which provides an outgrowth of the CareerLaunch program, a career-oriented initiative. CareerLaunch provides a myriad of career exploration and job skills experiences for teens at the Boys & Girls Club. During their day of "on the job training," members worked with mangers and sales representatives from the Old Navy store. The camp assisted youth in exposing different facets of retail oriented careers. Youth engaged in helping in the stockroom and working the cash register to learning about merchandise management and retail staging. At the end of the day, Old Navy rewarded the most distinguished "employees in training" with gift cards. Boys & Girls Club members ages 16 and over were given "hire cards" accompanied by specific instructions on how to apply for an Old Navy part-time position. The second phase of Camp Old Navy will begin in the fall which will include mock interviews and resume workshops. Participants will be given feedback from both Boys & Girls Club management and Old Navy management.
