Disney trip with Tim Tebow
Thursday, January 21, 2010
Tim Tebow's influence will be felt on kids long after the Florida Gators star leaves the university at the end of the year and heads off to the NFL.
What better place to see the influence of Tim Tebow than the Boys & Girls Club. Tebow's blend of building strong communities while breaking records helped our kids learn a crucial life lesson, "that they can do the right thing and still be successful." If Tim Tebow had his way, he would sign every autograph for the dozens of people who flock to the Florida practice field every afternoon during spring practice. Especially the children. After all, he was once one of those little kids, trying desperately to get the autograph of his childhood idol, former UF quarterback Danny Wuerffel.
But for our kids at the Boys & Girls Club, Tim gave them a day they will never forget. He not only signed autographs for all our kids, he personally chaperoned a group of them from our SE and Woodland Park Units and took them by chartered bus to Disney Land. The trip included watching hightlights of Gator games on the ride down to Orlando, stops for pizza and ice cream, and most importantly Tim spent time with each child one on one.
